Amanda Shilton

Amanda Shilton is a fifth-year PhD student in Luciano Marraffini’s lab studying the ways that bacteria defend themselves against their pathogens. She was born and raised in Zimbabwe, and came to the USA in 2014 as an undergraduate student at Brandeis University. Amanda served on BIOME 2022-2023 Advisory Board where she established an international scholars group that eventually resulted the founding of campus-funded club, RIGS. Amanda is currently the president of RIGS and remains passionate about bringing international scholars together for support and community-building.
