Victoria Schneider

Victoria is a fourth year PhD candidate at The Rockefeller University, working under the mentorship of both Dr. Kirk Deitsch (Weill Cornell Medical College) and Dr. Howard Hang (Rockefeller) to study the effects of metabolism on antigenic gene expression in malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum. Victoria completed her undergraduate degree with honors in microbiology and anthropology at The University of Pittsburgh. During Victoria’s first year at Rockefeller, she was awarded the Women & Science Fellowship, supporting the advancement of women scientists. Currently, Victoria acts in a leadership position for the Science Education and Policy Association (SEPA), a student and post doc led organization among Weill Cornell, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Rockefeller in New York City. The group educates scientists on the intersection of science and policy, and trains scientists to communicate to non-scientific audiences for public outreach. Victoria is also an active member of LGBTQ+ advocacy groups, seeking to uplift the voices of fellow queer scientists. Victoria academic interests are primarily in infectious disease and public health. Outside of the lab, Victoria enjoys hiking, biking, and exploring the great outdoors.
