Secret Molecule is a graphic design and animation studio that specializes in rendering the hidden world of biochemistry. This space is considered unseeable because objects like molecules, proteins, and DNA are smaller than the wavelength of visible light and must be indirectly imaged using complex techniques like x-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, or nuclear magnetic resonance.
Our goal is to help a variety of audiences to see and better understand the world on this scale. These images can help research scientists describe their results to each other but also help explain how a cancer drug works to a patient with no science background.
We are based in New York City, USA but have worked with scientific researchers, biotech startups, and educational institutes around the world.
